Writing Prompt # 3
The two sisters stared up at the deserted house. They linked hands, finding comfort in each other. They were different as night and day. One was dark. The other was light. They were often compared to the sun and moon.
"Shall we go?" The girl in black said.
"Yes," the girl in white said.
She tightened her fingers around her sister's and together they tip-toed up the steps. The stairs were broken in many spots and they had to step carefully to not risk falling. They got to the top landing and walked to the door. The door was made from a sturdy wood but the hinges were rusted. The girl in black reach out and gripped one of the doorknobs.
"Are you ready?" She asked glancing at her sister.
"Yes."
The girl in white took the other doorknob with a shaking hand. They counted to 3 together and pulled the doors open. A gust of wind hit them and knocked them back a step. The girls dug their heels in and pushed against the wind. The moment they crossed the threshold the wind died and the doors slammed shut behind them.
"No going back now."
